In what looks to be a costume and set designer's dream, Tim Burton is making an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, which is set to open next March. The first images have started to appear alongside an article about the production in USA Today, and they are, frankly, extraordinary. The story has been supposedly given a "girl power" update, but they have maintained the Victorian setting while drenching everything in a heavy coating of Surrealism.
These are just the publicity posters that will going up in cinemas around the globe this week, so they only hint at the incredible visual delights that await us when this film opens. With Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen (who looks quite amazing), Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice this film looks to be quite something- it's even going to be in 3D!
