Photos by Allan Grant of the All States Picnic, Ontario, California, July 4th, 1948, from the LIFE magazine archive.
The LIFE archive has this picnic dated to August 1948, but the All States Picnic was held every July 4th in Ontario on Euclid Avenue, where these photos were taken. Started in 1916 by the Federation of All States, it was held in John Galvin Park before moving to the location above in 1939. According to the Ontario City Library (which holds the All States Picnic Collection 1948-1963), attendance peaked in 1948 and 1961 with 120,000 people partaking in the festivities.
