At Home: James Maguire, 1979

Photobucket
What you remember about James Maguire's apartment isn't the sleek platform and built-ins but the sunlight streaming in and the view of Central Park. To achieve this effect, Maguire built all the surfaces to windowsill height and lacquered them a shiny white. The bare windows are part of the pared-down look of the room. At night, the shades are pulled up from the bottom to create privacy from the street.
