In closing, I was ...(continued from the other post)<br />In closing, I was saddened to hear Sabel has passed, she had so much life in her it just didn't seem possible. I hear she had a good life and didn't try and live that life forever like some i've read who bad mouthed her. ( I read some from this Pam Barres person where she said "these lil upstarts showed no respect. Hey, you werent happy with the older girls you replaced either so it starts sounding like sour grapes real quick. Obviously it was a fairly competitive arena, but like sports where opponents trash talk, get over yourself and realize Sabel was joining your club and you should've just not been so insecure about it. She was the real deal as well as I can tell and she didn't get what she wanted by being everyone's buddy. That would've been insincere more often than not, and she wasn't that, as best as I can tell. From what i've read she had many more friends than enemies, and lots of folks who just didn't see her the way that you did. And she left that scene way behind when the time was right so at least you didn't have to compete with her with all these tell all books and stories you still profit from. She left that for the others and went on to live a nice normal life. ) I have seen the pic form her obit and man, she just got prettier over the years. Years ago I had friends who lived in Tahoe and Carson Valley and my buddies nephew is the golf pro at Carson Valley GC and I wish I had known she was in the area. I read she liked golfing and I too have been golfing for many years and I would've liked to hit a few rounds with her to hear some stories and tell a few of my own. I'm glad her passing was quiet although some have said "painless" . I had an uncle who died of brain tumors at the age of 35. The time leading up to her passing, i'm thinking, were not painless although I hope she didn't suffer too much. Well just a short note with some of my off the wall opinions. Time to let the past go , once again. Our loss is Heavens gain. Rest in peace pretty lady. Andy S. My name is Andy and I met them both at the Palos Verdes Continuation High School next door to the real high school. It's not there anymore as they have to move it around since "nobody wants our kind in their neighborhood" lol. They showed up one day and I was hit hard with their looks and style. I love rock n roll, especially the stuff in my heyday like the 60s, 70s, 80s. I'm 58 as of this writing. I said something to them that got me invited into a private room with them but I wasn't even close to being a rock star, or even normal, for that matter, so I ended being inspected, deflected, and rejected. I think I liked Corel a bit more cuz I thought she was prettier (a lil bit) and less aggressive, but to be honest, I was more than impressed with both of them. I knew from "the talk around the place" that they were groupies that frequented the strip but I didn't fully understand all the fun and notoriety they were up to. These past couple days i've been reading through and seeing the pics of all the fun. We used to cruise the strip on the occasion we had nothing else going on near to home and we used to check out all the what we called "freaks"(meant in an interesting way) , the rockers and girls who dressed up all glam. Quite a show, I never thought to see if I knew any of them but I should've stopped in to say hi. I missed out on alot of fun just being in the same neighborhood with our idols like Led Zep T-rex and Alice Cooper and of course, The Shields, although we were more into the classical groups , not the glam and over-the-toppers like the New York Dolls and The Stooges. Still rock is rock. I was also in that area then helping my parents doing construction. They had just bought 2 adjacent homes right above the strip, on Hilldale between the Roxy and the Whisky in the hills there, so they could join them together and make a respectable place out of it. lol. So every day I was working up there at least 5 days a week but at night I went home or back to Palos Verdes to party with friends. I should've stuck around for the night show but wasn't that much into the scene. Anyways, i'm not at all surprised as to what i've been reading about Sabel and Corel, except maybe the age thing, kinda young, but you're only young once and rust never sleeps. Clichés, yes. Appropriate, most definitely. If anyone deserves any blame for what now would be considered crimes against society, it's the adults. One day I tried calling her and found out she had been held in a Mexican jail on drug charges. I've never forgotten about her...and always wished I would see her again. I was 13 and going to Rodneys, hitchhiking from The Valley with my friends, a couple of whom were 12, others 14, maybe 15. 16 was too old. Escaping the pervs who would pick you up was the dangerous part. We had all told our parents (who, looking back, were off enjoying the fresh breakdown of society and the sexual revolution in their own ways!) that we were were having a slumber party at a friend's, of course! The police rolled their eyes and, if stopped, would tell you just to be careful. It was a different set of rules -- no shoplifting allowed but we were all free to get ourselves killed -- and many of their own daughters were hanging out at Rodney's with us. Now, I am glad I was shy and geeky wanna-be and never really got anywhere with the groups, not counting a 12 yr old friend of mine who "got to" give one of the Slade band members a BJ in the back room. Sable and Queenie were awe-inspiring but dangerous and jealous little goddesses to us and there just wasn't any competing. We just got out of their way! FWIW, I'm a very strict mother now and my kids don't know why. lolUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13518630538932728833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6599075648536314925.post-90355174451583577362010-01-08T23:04:09.449-05:002010-01-08T23:04:09.449-05:00Wow, another amazing story.
